Wetlands Kayak Tour
Riverton Bridge, Canning River Wetlands Regional Park, Kent Street Weir
We meet and launch near the Canning River Bridge in Riverton and paddle slowly into the wetlands area. Here we take the time to enjoy the birdlife that live, hunt and breed in this unique regional park and learn a little of the first Australians who lived in the area as well as the first European explorers that settled the Swan River Colony.
We continue our paddle and explore the alluvial islands and estuarine vegetation of the Canning River Regional Park before arriving at Kent Street Weir. After a ~40 minute well earned break we jump in our kayaks and head back to our start point via a slightly different route but again taking time to absorb the areas beauty.
No paddling experience is needed. We provide you a safety briefing and show you how to paddle our very stable sit-on top kayaks.
- A kayak and paddles.
- Life jacket.
- Safety briefing and kayak tutorial.
- A dry bag for your camera, phone, keys or wallet.
- A knowledgeable guide who is trained to keep you safe whilst providing you informative commentary. The guide also carries a first aid kit for your safety.
- Weather protection clothing and sunscreen.
- A full water bottle.
- Some money for the café stop.
- Some shoes that can be worn in the water like reef shoes, wetsuit shoes or old sandshoes (not essential).
- You may also like to bring along a towel and a change of clothes.
- Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
- Minimum age for participation in a kayak tour is 8 years old.
- Tandem kayaks have a maximum weight limitation of 125kg per person or 250kg per kayak.
